BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior distance runner Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) has qualified in the one-mile run for the NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships which will be held on Friday, March 8th and Saturday, March 9th at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
Rouillard, who is ranked 14th in a field of 15 runners, recorded her mile qualifying time of 5:01.86 at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships on February 23rd at Boston University. Her actual time of 4:58.90, which is also a school record, was converted to 5:01.86 due to the NCAA track size venue conversion.
For each woman’s individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 10 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
The preliminaries of the women's one mile run will get underway on Friday afternoon at 4:45 PM (EST). The event final will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2:40 PM (EST).
Rouillard currently holds BSU individual indoor marks in the 400-meter dash (58.20), 3000-meter run (10:19.00), Mile, and 5000-meter run (17:22.23) as well as the Bears’ outdoor record in the 10,000-meter run (36:19.51).
This past fall, Rouillard qualified for the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championships and finished 50th out of a field of 277 runners at the national championship meet held at the Lavern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Indiana with a time of 22:17.6. She garnered Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Runner of the Year honors in each of her three seasons on the Bears’ women’s cross country team.
