CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the non-scoring MIT Invitational on Saturday.
The Bears' 4 x 800-meter relay squad of seniors Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, Mass.) and Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) and juniors Megan Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) placed second in the event and qualified for the ECAC Championships.
Lagasse added a third place showing in the 1,500-meter run with a Division III New England Championships qualifying time of 4:51.19.
Sophomore Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass.) placed third in the 200-meter dash (26.25 seconds) and sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:00.76). McHugh qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 200 and DIII New Englands in the 400.
Junior Mychal-Lynne Folsom (Rockland, Mass.) finished third in the 100-meter dash (13.02 seconds), while sophomore Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) placed sixth in the discus (111', 5.00") and seventh in the hammer throw (130'3.00").
Next weekend the Bears compete at the MASCAC and New England Alliance Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
