BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Carrie Robitaille has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
A native of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Robitaille placed fifth in the heptathlon and earned All-ECAC honors to lead the Bears at the 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Moravian College last week.
Robitaille posted an overall score of 3,856 points in the heptathlon events as she placed first in the 800-meter run (2:30.65), fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.80 seconds) and long jump (4.95 meters) and tied for sixth in the high jump (1.43 meters). She also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash (27.53 seconds), eighth in the javelin (20.93 meters) and 11th in the shot put (7.55 meters).
Two weeks ago at the Division III New England Championships, Robitaille provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships and captured All-New England honors in the heptathlon as she posted a fifth place finish with a score of 4,119 points.
The MASCAC weekly honor is Robitaille’s third during the outdoor season as she was selected as the conference Track Athlete of the Week on April 11th and Field Athlete of the Week back on March 28th.
Robitaille holds the BSU school outdoor record in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 1.5 inches.
