BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Carrie Robitaille has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Co-Athlete of the Week. Robitaille shares the weekly award with Westfield State freshman Targie Gervais.
This mark the second time this season that Robitaille has garnered either the MASCAC outdoor track or field athlete of the week honor.
Robitaille placed first in both the 100-meter hurdles (16.30) and 400-meter hurdles (1:07.61) at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic last weekend. The Ludlow, Massachusetts native posted a time of 16.30 seconds in the 100 hurdles to qualify for the ECAC Division III Championships, and qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:07.61.
Robitaille also placed second at the meet in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 0.25 inches (10.37 meters).
So far this season, Robitaille has qualified for the New England Division III Championships in five events; the long jump, triple jump, 100 and 400 hurdles, and the high jump.
This past indoor season, Robitaille earned All-New England honors in the pentathlon at both the New England Division III Championships and the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships. She also set the school pentathlon record with a score of 2,939 points. Robitaille placed at the ECAC Division III Championships as well, finishing in sixth overall and second among New England pentathletes.
In addition to the pentathlon, Robitaille currently holds school indoor records in the long jump (16'8.75") and the triple jump (34'10.5") as well as the outdoor mark in the triple jump (34'11.25").
The outdoor season continues for the BSU track and field teams next Saturday as they will compete at the Bernard Solomon Invitational hosted by Northeastern University.
