BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior Carrie Robitaille has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Co-Athlete of the Week. Robitaille shares the honor along with Fitchburg State sophomore Emily Lane.
Robitaille took top honors in the high jump (1.52 meters) and placed third in 100-meter hurdles (16.56 seconds) at the BSU Bears Invitational on Saturday as she qualified for the New England Division III Championships in both events. The Ludlow, Massachusetts native also placed second in the triple jump (10.31 meters) and third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:14.13).
Through two meets this season, Robitaille has already qualified for the Division III regional championship meet in four events as she also achieved the qualifying standards in the long jump and triple jump at the season-opening Northeastern Husky Spring Open on March 19th.
This past indoor season, Robitaille earned All-New England honors in the pentathlon at both the New England Division III Championships and the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships. She also set the school pentathlon record with a score of 2,939 points. Robitaille placed at the ECAC Division III Championships as well, finishing in sixth overall and second among New England pentathletes.
The outdoor season continues for the BSU track and field teams next Saturday as they will compete at the Bryant University Invitational.
