BRIDGWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Brittany Page has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Page captured top honors in the hammer throw at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic this past weekend with a distance of 126 feet, eight inches (38.61 meters). The Winthrop, Massachusetts native also placed fourth at the meet in both the shot put (32’9.5”) and discus throw (93’9.0”) as she helped the Bears post a third place finish in the team standings.
Earlier this season at the BSU Bears Invitational, Page qualified for the Division III New England Championships and placed first in the hammer with a toss of 133 feet, eight inches (40.76 meters).
In 2010, Page was the MASCAC and New England Alliance champion in the hammer throw posting a distance of 136 feet, six inches (41.62 meters). This past indoor season, she earned All-New England Alliance status with a sixth place showing in the weight throw (41’0.5”).
The outdoor season continues for the BSU track and field teams next Saturday as they will compete at the Bernard Solomon Invitational hosted by Northeastern University.
