Taylor Clancy Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior midfielder Taylor Clancy has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.

A native of Braintree, Massachusetts, Clancy notched nine goals and four assists for 13 points to go along with 15 ground balls, four draw controls and six caused turnovers in a 2-1 week for the Bears which included a pair of MASCAC wins over Westfield State and Framingham State.

Clancy tallied three goals, four ground balls, a draw and two caused turnovers in the Bears' 12-9 win over Westfield.  She added three goals, two ground balls and a draw in an 8-7 setback to Wheaton College, and registered three goals, four assists, nine ground balls, two draws and four caused turnovers in a 19-2 triumph over Framingham.

In 14 games this season, Clancy has produced 38 goals and 16 assists for 54 points in addition to 70 ground balls, 34 draws and 37 caused turnovers.  She currently leads the MASCAC in both ground balls and caused turnovers and ranks second in scoring and goals.  Clancy is also tied for second in the conference in assists and tied for seventh in draws.

In 53 games over three seasons with the Bears, Clancy has amassed 87 goals and 28 assists for 115 points.  She also has 156 ground balls to her credit as well as 141 draws and 82 caused turnovers.  She ranks fifth all-time in program history with her 141 draws.

The BSU women’s lacrosse team is presently 12-2 on the season.  The Bears, who are atop the MASCAC standings with a 4-0 conference mark, travel to Wheelock College on Monday evening for a seven o’clock non-conference game with the Wildcats.
