BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore goaltender Victoria Moore has been selected as the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) Defensive Player of the Week.
A native of Duxbury, Massachusetts, Moore went 2-0 with an impressive 5.60 goals against average and 14 saves in 150 minutes of work for the Bears last week.
Moore made nine saves in a 12-6 win over MIT and three saves in a 10-6 victory over Colby-Sawyer College. She also came on in relief and limited Salve Regina University to just two goals over the final 30 minutes in a 9-7 setback to the Seahawks.
In five games this season, Moore is 2-1 with an 8.48 goals against average and 27 saves. She currently leads the NEWLA in goals against average and minutes played (233:25) and ranks second in saves and third in save percentage (.450).
Moore has appeared in nine games over her first two seasons with the Bears. She has 42 saves to her credit as well as a career 8.72 goals against average in over 371 minutes (371:41) of work.
The BSU women's lacrosse team is presently 2-3 on the season. The Bears are off until Monday, March 26th when they travel to Roger Williams University to take on the Hawks at 4:00 PM.
