BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University freshman attack Riley Cachelin has been selected as the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) Rookie of the Week.

A native of Westwood, Massachusetts, Cachelin potted three goals and two assists to go along with three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover in a 2-1 week for the Bears.

Cachelin tallied a goal and an assist as well as two draws in a 12-6 win over MIT, and notched a pair of goals in a 9-7 setback to Salve Regina University.  She also added an assist in a 10-6 victory over Colby-Sawyer College.

In five games this season, Cachelin has amassed five goals and three assists for eight points.  She is currently tied for second in the NEWLA in assists, tied for sixth in scoring and tied for eighth in goals.

The BSU women’s lacrosse team is presently 2-3 on the season.  The Bears are off until Monday, March 26th when they travel to Roger Williams University to take on the Hawks at 4:00 PM.
