Jose DePina Named MASCAC Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior forward Jose DePina has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer Co- Player of the Week. DePina shares this week’s honor along with Framingham State senior goaltender Greg Halle.

DePina, who hails from Boston, Massachusetts, tallied five goals for ten points in a perfect 3-0 start for the Bears. He notched a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in BSU's season-opening 5-1 win over Endicott College. DePina also added single markers in a 6-1 victory over Mitchell College and a 4-2 triumph at Plymouth State.

In 23 career games over his first three seasons, DePina has seven goals and a pair of assists to his credit for a total of 16 points.

DePina and the Bears will host non-conference foe Johnson & Wales University on Thursday afternoon at 4:00 PM.  Bridgewater will then open MASCAC play on Saturday when they travel to Westfield State for a four o’clock match with the Owls.
