Ryan Seifert Named to NSCAA All-New England Team
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior goaltender Ryan Seifert has been named to the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Division III All-New England Fourth Team.
A native of Ludlow, Mass., Seifert posted 11 victories in goal for the Bears during the season as he notched seven shutouts and a 0.81 goals against average. Seifert placed second in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in goals against average and save percentage (.864) and finished third in shutouts and saves (89). He also ranked 17th in all of Division III in save percentage.
Seifert was voted to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team for the first time in his career and was also chosen the conference player of the year. He was named as the MASCAC Player of the Week as well as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Defensive Player of the Week back on October 6th. At the season opening Roger Williams Turfer Classic, Seifert was selected to the All-Tournament Team and was named the tournament MVP.
Bridgewater State completed the 2008 season with a record of 11-5-2 including a 4-2-1 mark in the MASCAC. Seeded third in the conference tournament, the Bears dropped a 3-0 decision to second-seeded Salem State College in the semifinals.
In two seasons at BSC, Seifert has compiled a career record of 15-9-3 with eight shutouts. He has appeared in 27 games (26 starts) making 159 saves while recording a 1.10 goals against average as well as a .841 save percentage.
