All-MASCAC Men's Soccer Team Announced
2008 All-MASCAC Men's Soccer Team
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior goaltender Ryan Seifert has been named as the 2008 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Year and heads the league's all-conference squad in a vote taken of the conference's eight coaches.
A native of Ludlow, Mass., Seifert posted 11 victories in goal for the Bears during the season, as he notched seven shutouts and a 0.81 goals against average. Seifert is second in the MASCAC in goals against average and save percentage (.864) and is also third in shutouts and saves (89).
Seifert was joined on the 2008 All-MASCAC First Team by teammates Donald Flores (Cranston, RI) and Jon Machado (Weymouth, MA). Flores, a sophomore midfielder, finished the 2008 season with a goal and seven assists to his credit. Machado, a senior defender, has two goals and an assist while also anchoring a defensive unit that has helped the Bears post eight shutouts.
Senior forward Jon Nutting (Rockland, MA) is the Bears' lone representative on the all-conference second team. Nutting finished the season with two goals and four assists. He wraps up a solid four-year career at Bridgewater State with 17 goals and ten assists for a total of 44 points. Of Nutting's 17 career goals, eight were game-winners.
Bridgewater State completed the 2008 season with a record of 11-5-2 including a 4-2-1 mark in the MASCAC. Seeded third in the conference tournament, the Bears dropped a 3-0 decision to second-seeded Salem State College in the semifinals.
