All-MASCAC Men's Soccer Team Announced

2007 All-MASCAC Men's Soccer Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Four Bridgewater State men's soccer players earned All-MASCAC honors in 2007, including two First Team All- MASCAC selections. The BSC men's soccer team had another successful season in 2007.  The Bears made their third NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and the second in the last four years.

The Bears finished the regular season fourth in the MASCAC, but beat # 1 seed Framingham state and # 3 seed Salem State, both by scores of 2-0, to win the MASCAC postseason tournament and earn a spot in the National Tournament. Bridgewater lost to Wheaton in the first round of the NCAAs by a score of 2-0.

Junior defender Jon Machado (Weymouth, MA) earned First Team All-MASCAC honors with a tremendous season for the Bears. Machado was the anchor of the BSC defense, starting all 20 games, while tallying 11 points on 3 goals and 5 assists.

Senior midfielder Takashi Suzuki (Tochigi, Japan) was also named to the All-MASCAC First Team for the Bears. Suzuki started 19 games scoring 3 goals and adding an assist. This was Suzuki's 2nd All- MASCAC selection, after earning Second Team honors last season.

Freshman midfielder Donald Flores (Cranston, RI) was Second Team All- MASCAC after an outstanding freshman campaign. Flores had 8 points for the Bears scoring three goals and adding two assists.

Junior Forward Jon Nutting (Rockland, MA) was also Second Team All- MASCAC after a dominating offense season for the Bears.  Nutting was a catalyst for the Bears offense all season leading the team with 5 goals and 13 points.
