BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University baseball team will take on second-seeded Western New England College in the winner's bracket final of the NCAA Division III New England Regional on Friday at 4:30 PM.

The eighth-seeded Bears (26-16) advanced to the championship round by knocking off third-seeded Wheaton College, 6-3, in the loser's bracket final on Saturday at Whitehouse Field.  Bridgewater needs to beat WNEC twice on Sunday to win the regional and move on to the Division III College World Series for the first time since 1997.

The Bears are in the regional championship round for the sixth time overall.  Bridgewater also advanced to regional final in 1996, 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2004. The Bears won the New England Regional in 1996 and finished third at the College World Series.  The following season (1997), Bridgewater won the Mid-Atlantic Regional and placed seventh at the World Series.
