Sarah Lagasse Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior Sarah Lagasse has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior Sarah Lagasse has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Lagasse captured first place in the 800-meter run at the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational on Saturday with a time of 2:25.48. The Rehoboth, Massachusetts native also placed second and qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.43.
Two weeks ago at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic, Lagasse qualified for DIII New Englands as well as the ECAC Division III Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
During the winter indoor season, Lagasse earned MASCAC champion honors in the 800 and the mile run as well as the 4 x 800-meter relay. This past fall, she captured second place at the MASCAC Cross Country Championships finishing behind teammate and classmate, Molly Rouillard.
Lagasse broke one individual school mark during the indoor season and was part of three school record-setting relay performances. She set a new BSU standard in the 1,000-meter run (3:03.25), and helped set the 4 x 400 (4:01.31), 4 x 800 (9:42.75) and distance medley (12:58.24) relay marks.
In the spring of 2010, Lagasse eclipsed the Bears' outdoor record in the steeplechase with a time of 12:12.34.
Lagasse and the BSU women's indoor track and field team will compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships on Saturday at Fitchburg State.
