Jenna Williamson Named Little East Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman Jenna Williamson has been selected as the Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Williamson, who hails from Ludlow, Massachusetts, helped the BSU women’s tennis team increase its’ winning streak to seven matches as she went undefeated in both singles and doubles play in a perfect 3-0 week for the Bears.

Last week, Bridgewater picked up a pair of 9-0 Little East Conference wins over Worcester State and UMass Boston as well as a tough 5-4 victory over Roger Williams University. Williamson won all three of her singles matches in straight sets and teamed with sophomore Lauren Hopp (Dartmouth, Mass.) to go 3-0 at the third doubles flight.

Through seven matches this season as well as the Newport Grass Court Doubles Tournament, Williamson has a win-loss record of 6-1 in singles play and 7-3 in doubles.

Bridgewater State is currently a perfect 7-0 on the season with a 3-0 mark in the Little East.  The Bears will put their undefeated record on the line when they travel to Rhode Island College on Saturday afternoon for a noontime conference match with the Anchorwomen.
