BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Eight Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the Fall 2010 Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic Team as announced by LEC Media Relations Director, Jack Holleran. The eight student-athletes include six field hockey players and two representatives from the women's tennis team.
To earn a spot on the all-academic teams a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3, and be a full-time member of a varsity team.
Receiving the honor as members of the field hockey team are seniors Elizabeth Correia (Somerset, Mass.) and Justine Fox (Harwich, Mass.), juniors Ashley Caouette (Blackstone, Mass.) and Breanna Clement (Pittsfield, Mass.), and sophomores Megan Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Beth Phillips (Worcester, Mass.). Representing the women’s tennis team are junior Julie Kraby (Wrentham, Mass.) and sophomore Ashley Pereira (Assonet, Mass.).
The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), four BSU teams call the Little East home. Field hockey and women’s tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, women’s swimming and diving in the winter and men’s tennis in the spring.
