BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Cailey Simard is competing at the NCAA Division III Northeast/North Regional Diving Championships on Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th at the NYU Palladium Athletic Facility.
Simard placed 16th in the three-meter diving competition on Friday afternoon with an 11-dive score of 369.40 points. One-meter diving is slated for Saturday at 12:15 PM. Click on the links below for live results and webcast.
Simard is the first BSU female diver to qualify for the regional championships and just the second diver in the history of the Bears' swimming & diving program (Andy Fuccillo, 2003).
The 2023 Little East Conference Diver and Rookie Diver of the Year shattered the conference championship records on the one-meter and three-meter boards last week as she won the gold medal in both events. Simard captured the three-meter title with a score of 433.50 points after posting a LEC-record score of 440.40 points in the prelims, and went on the win the one-meter with a LEC record score of 436.70 points. Those marks far surpassed the NCAA’s 11-dive qualifying standards, which are 395 points on one-meter and 410 points on three-meter.
Simard currently 30th in all of Division III on the one-meter board for an 11-dive event. She is also 68th on the one-meter (303.10 pts.) for a six-dive event.
