BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University Director of Athletics, John Harper, announced today that John Pringle has stepped down from his positions of Director of Aquatics and Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach.
Pringle has accepted a club coaching position for the Velocity Swim Club in Wenatchee, Washington and will begin work there in early August.
A native of Snohomish, Washington, Pringle came to Bridgewater State in the fall of 2008 as the school’s first Aquatics Director as well as an assistant coach for the swimming and diving teams. He took over the head coaching duties in 2009 and served in that capacity for the past two seasons.
During his tenure at BSU, Pringle started a Swim America program at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool which has proven to be very popular with the surrounding communities. He also coordinated numerous facility upgrades, helped manage the John J. Kelly Gymnasium and was instrumental in organizing the administration of the South Sectional Special Olympics Aquatics qualifying meet.
“In his three years with our department, John Pringle has created a multi-faceted aquatics program for all ages,” noted Harper. “He has brought a different perspective to our swimming and diving programs and has helped raise the awareness and importance of all aquatics activities on campus.
“I thank John most sincerely for his efforts these past three years and I wish him and his family every success in the future,” Harper added.
A search for Coach Pringle’s replacement will begin immediately.
