Hersey Named MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior forward Ashley Hersey has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
A native of Newburyport, Massachusetts, Hersey tallied two goals and three assists for seven points in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears which included a 3-0 MASCAC victory over Framingham State College.
Hersey scored a goal and assisted on two others in the Bears' 4-3 non-conference win over Plymouth State University. She then scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in BSC's shutout of Framingham.
With the win over the Rams, Bridgewater remains in contention for the final spot in the upcoming MASCAC Tournament. The Bears need a win over Mass. Maritime on Saturday coupled with a Salem State loss or a tie to advance to the tournament. BSC is currently 7-6-2 on the season and 2-3-1 in conference play.
Through 15 games this season, Hersey has three goals and six assists to her credit for 12 points. She currently ranks first on the team in assists and is tied for the team lead in scoring. Two of Hersey's three goals on the year have been game-winners.
