BSC Bears Blank Framingham State, 3-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - In MASCAC women's soccer action, senior forward Jessica Chiachio (Stoneham, MA) tallied a pair of goals to lead the Bridgewater State College Bears to a key 3-0 shutout victory over the Rams of Framingham State.

With the win, BSC improves to 8-7-1 on the season and more importantly 3-2-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears will await word on where they will be seeded in next week's conference tournament. Framingham ends the season with a record of 6-9-1 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play.  With her two goals, Chiachio moves into sixth place on the Bears' all-time scoring list as she now has 48 points for her career. She is tied with Jeannie Rooney who played from 1993 to 1996.

Chiachio scored her first goal of the afternoon in the 11th minute as she headed the ball in off a rebound of a Christine Soucy (Rockland, MA) shot. Soucy had given BSC a quick 1-0 lead just 2:49 into the contest as she knocked home a lose ball that was mishandled by the Framingham keeper.  Leading 2-0 heading into the second half, Chiachio gave BSC a three-goal lead in the 51st minute as she drove a shot into the right-corner of the goal off a cross by junior forward Megan Williamson (Ludlow, MA).

Bridgewater State freshman netminder Kayla Grover (Haverhill, MA) turned aside 3 shots in 68 minutes of work to record her sixth win of the season. Junior Ashley Spingler (West Springfield, MA) made 1 save over the last 22 minutes in relief of Grover.

Freshman Tara Cavalieri (Attleboro, MA) and sophomore Kate Simonelli (Pittsfield, MA) combined to record 11 saves between the pipes for the Rams.
