BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- After winning their second bouts of the day, senior Jim Quinlan (Methuen, MA) and sophomore Frank Cammisa (Danbury, CT) both saw their 2007-2008 season come to an end.
Quinlan (29-4) started the tournament unseeded in the 184-pound weight class and lost his opening bout 10-9 to top-seeded Romeo Djourmessi (26-0) of Wartburg College. He rebounded with a 7-2 win over eighth seeded Jay Figgins (30-11) of Loras College but then dropped a 7-4 decision to Robert Goutreau of Augsburg. Quinlan, who was making his first appearance at the Division III Championships, is Bridgewater's all-time winingest wrestler with 136 victories.
Cammisa, after receiving a first round bye, was upset in the second round by unseeded Johanson Quist (20-9) of Luther College 12-10. Cammisa defeated Erik Smith of Wilkes, 1-0, before bowing out with a 10-3 loss to Paul LeBlanc of SUNY-Cortland. a Cammisa was making his second straight appearance in the national tournament.
