BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior pitcher Amber White has been selected to the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Softball All-Star Second Team.

In 27 appearances this season including 24 starts, White posted a record of 15-7 with 20 complete games, eight shutouts and a 0.60 earned run average.  The Middleboro, Massachusetts native fanned 137 batters over 164 2/3 innings, walked only 14, and opponents batted just .166 against her.

White finished the season ranked third in all of Division III in ERA and fifth in fewest walks allowed per seven innings (0.60).  She was also sixth in the nation in fewest hits allowed per seven innings (4.29) and 18th in shutouts.

A two-time MASCAC Pitcher of the Year and first team all-conference selection, White helped the BSU softball team capture both the MASCAC regular season and tournament titles and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 2009 and 21st time overall.

In NCAA New England Regional play, White gave up just one unearned run on four hits over nine innings with four strikeouts.  The Bears, however, dropped a pair of 1-0 decisions to host Babson College and Husson University in the double-elimination tournament.

Last month, White was selected as an NCAA Division III Capital One Academic All-District honoree by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA). In the classroom, White boasts an impressive 3.6 grade point average while majoring in Biology, and has been named to the Dean’s List in each of her first four semesters at Bridgewater State.

In 56 appearances over two seasons with the Bears, White has produced a record of 31-13 with 39 complete games, 14 shutouts, four saves and a 1.14 ERA.  She also has 269 strikeouts in 324 1/3 innings of work.  White’s 269 career punch-outs is good for eighth all-time at BSU.
