Jennifer Shaw Named MASCAC Softball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore third baseman Jennifer Shaw has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.

A native of Brockton, Massachusetts, Shaw batted .421 (8-19) with three home runs, two doubles, eight runs scored and 11 runs batted in during a 3-3 week for the Bears.

Shaw went 5-for-8 with three homers, two doubles, four runs scored and nine RBI in a MASCAC doubleheader split with Framingham State. She was also a combined 3-for-11 with a double, a walk, four runs, two RBI and a stolen base in twinbill splits with UMass Boston and Babson College.

In 19 games this season, Shaw is batting .449 (22-49) with five home runs, seven doubles, 17 runs scored, 22 RBI.  She is also sporting a .898 slugging percentage as well as a .491 on base percentage.

Shaw leads the MASCAC in runs batted in and is tied for first in home runs.  She also ranks second in the conference in runs scored, total bases (44) and doubles, and is third in hits (22).

In 44 games over two seasons at BSU, Shaw has posted a career .369 (38-103) batting average with five homers, nine doubles, 24 runs scored and 30 RBI to go along with a .621 slugging percentage.

The Bridgewater State softball team is presently 9-11 overall on the season and 1-1 in MASCAC play.  The Bears will host Rhode Island College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 PM in a non-conference doubleheader with the Anchorwomen.
