Bouchard Returns to NCAA Cross Country Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior Avery Bouchard (Fall River, MA) will be returning to the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships.  Bouchard, who competed in the national championship meet in 2005, will be among the 280 competitors that step to the starting line on Saturday, November 22nd.

The entire NCAA field of 32 teams and 56 individual qualifiers was announced on Sunday afternoon.  The national championship race will be hosted by Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana.

Bouchard qualified as an individual competitor based on his finish at Saturday's New England Regional held in Williamstown, Mass.  He crossed the finish line in 17th place after completing the 8,000-meter course in a time of.26:40.0.  Bouchard received All-New England recognition for placing among the top 35 finishers.

The top seven individuals from the New England region that were not on qualifying teams earned spots to the national meet.   Of the field of 32 qualifying teams, four are from New England.  Those four teams are regional champion Williams College, runner-up Amherst College, Trinity College and Brandeis University.

As a sophomore at the 2005 NCAA Division III Championships, Bouchard finished 69th out of the nation's top 215 harriers.
