BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Stephen Wahome has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Wahome won the 10,000-meter run at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic this past Saturday with a time of 31:46.16. With that time, Wahome qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Springfield College in May.
The Lowell, Massachusetts native holds the school record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:17.02, which he set last year. He also holds two more individual indoor records (3000, 5000) and is a part of three record-holding relay teams, two indoor (4x800, DMR) and one outdoor (4x800).
During the winter indoor season, Wahome won MASCAC individual titles in both the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs. He also captured the MASCAC Men’s Cross Country title this past fall and advanced to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in 2011.
The outdoor season continues for Wahome and the BSU men’s track and field team as the Bears travel to Eastern Connecticut State University on Friday for the Eastern Invitational.
