Sukeforth Named MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Co-Athlete of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Andy Sukeforth has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Co-Athlete of the Week. Sukeforth shares the weekly honor along with Westfield State junior Brendan Corcoran.
Sukeforth took top honors in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.53 at the Tufts Stampede this past weekend. The Middleboro, Massachusetts native helped lead the BSU men's indoor track and field team to a fourth place finish in the team standings at the meet.
So far this season, Andy has qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 800, 1,000-meter run and the mile. He has also qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships in the 1,000 and both the ECACs and the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) championships in the mile.
Sukeforth currently holds three BSU men's indoor track records, including two of which he set this past month. He eclipsed the school 800 mark with a time of 1:56.48 at the BU Terrier Invitational during the 2010-2011 campaign. In January, he knocked off program marks in the 1,000 (2:32.56) at the Wesleyan Invitation III and the mile (4:16.49) at the BU Terrier Invitational.
In upcoming action, Sukeforth and his indoor track and field teammates will compete at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships hosted by the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.
