BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Joshua Danner-Hicks has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Danner-Hicks shattered the school record in the triple jump to lead BSU at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at MIT.
The Haverhill, Massachusetts native registered a sixth place leap of 47 feet, 2.25 inches (14.38 meters) to earn All-NEICAAA honors as he eclipsed the Bears' previous outdoor mark of 45 feet , 8.25 inches set by Tim Mann in 1988.
With only the ECAC Division III Championship meet remaining, Danner-Hicks currently ranks 28th nationally among Division III athletes in the triple jump. The top 20 in the event advance to the NCAA Division III Championships held at the Burns Track Complex on the campus of Claremont Mudd Scripps in Claremont, California on May 24-26.
