EASTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University Men’s Outdoor Track and Field team competed at the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Stonehill College on Saturday. The Bears' placed third in the team standings with a score of 109 points.
Junior Michael McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) posted a first place finish in the shot put (51'11.00") and was second in the hammer throw (166'2.00") to lead the way for the Bears.
Junior Stephen Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) finished second in the 10,000-meter run (31:52.29) and qualified for three postseason meets (DIII New England, ECAC, NEICAAA).
Sophomore Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) placed third in the triple jump (45'0.25") and qualified for the ECAC Championships. Danner-Hicks also finished ninth in the 200-meter dash (22.80 seconds) and qualified for DIII New Englands.
Junior Andrew Corley (Milton, Mass.), sophomore Andy Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) and freshman Christian Lavoie (Marion, Mass.) also qualified for the Division III New England Championships in their respective events. Corley placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (57.96 seconds), Sukeforth grabbed fourth place in the 1,500-meter run (4:01.20) and Lavoie captured the eighth spot in the shot put (45'7.25").
Next weekend, Bridgewater will compete at the MIT Invitational.
