NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.  – Junior David Phipps (Attleboro, Mass.) placed first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and sophomore Andy Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) captured top honors in the 800-meter run to lead the Bridgewater State University Men’s Indoor Track and Field team at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on Saturday.

Phipps posted a time of 10:22.25 in the steeplechase, while Sukeforth checked in at 1:57.82 in the 800.

Junior Michael McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) placed second in both the shot put (51’3.50”) and the hammer throw (160’5.00”), while classmate Stephan Cawley (Dedham, Mass.) finished fourth in the shot (46’6.75”).

Freshman Christian Lavoie (Marion, Mass.) tied for sixth in the discus with a toss of 137 feet as he also qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the event.

Junior Felix Mensah (Lowell, Mass.) added a third place showing in the 100-meter dash (11.20 seconds), while sophomore Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) finished fourth in the triple jump (43’10.00”).

Next Saturday, the Bears compete at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational.
