BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman Wesley Esthimer has been selected as both the Little East Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.

Esthimer made his collegiate debut a memorable one as he posted a 6-0, 6-2 straight set win at number one singles over his opponent from Anna Maria College this past weekend .  He also teamed with senior Mike Zagame (Uxbridge, Mass.) for an 8-5 victory at first flight doubles as the Bears 9-0 downed the AMCATS, 9-0, in their only match of the week.

A native of Franklin, Massachusetts, Esthimer comes to Bridgewater State via Franklin High School where he was a Hockomock League All-Star during his junior and seniors seasons competing on the Panthers' tennis team.

Esthimer and the BSU men's tennis team will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon as the Bears travel to Johnson and Wales University to take on the Wildcats at 3:30.
