BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Visiting Clark University posted an 8-1 decision over Bridgewater State University in non-conference men's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.
Clark improves to 15-2 on the season as the Cougars captured all six singles matches and two out of three doubles flights. Bridgewater slips to 7-4 overall.
Sophomore Dan Stein (Newton, Mass.) and freshman Josh Burger (Fairfield, Conn.) paced the visitors with straight sets wins at the second and third flights, respectively. Stein and Burger also teamed up for an 8-6 triumph at second doubles.
Clark junior Diego Angel (Lima, Peru) won the top flight singles match with a 6-4, 6-1 straight set victory.
Freshman Wesley Esthimer (Franklin, Mass.) and senior Mike Zagame (Uxbridge, Mass.) picked up the Bears' lone point of the afternoon as the duo captured an 8-4 win at first doubles.
In upcoming action, Bridgewater travels to Little East Conference foe UMass Dartmouth next Wednesday afternoon to take on the Corsairs at three. Clark hosts Endicott College next Monday afternoon at 3:30.
