Mike White Named to NSCAA All-New England East Region Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior defender Mike White has been named to the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Performance Subaru NCAA Division III All-New England East Region Second Team.

White, who hails from Canton, Massachusetts, was the backbone of a defensive unit that helped Bridgewater post a 1.45 team goals against average as well as five shutouts this past season.

In 19 starts, White tallied a goal and two assists for four points and was named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer All-Conference First Team.  All told, he registered a goal and six assists for eight points in 65 games over four seasons at Bridgewater. White also appeared in two games in goal for the Bears in 2007 and 2008, posting a 2.00 goals against average with ten saves and a shutout.

The BSU men’s soccer team posted an overall record of 13-6 in 2010 including a 5-2 mark in MASCAC play.  Seeded second in the conference tournament, Bridgewater dropped a 2-1 decision in double overtime to conference champion Salem State University in the semifinals.

Following the MASCAC Tournament, Bridgewater was selected as the top seed for the ECAC Division III New England Championships.  After posting a 3-2 double overtime win over Lesley University in the quarterfinal round, the Bears lost to eventual champion Brandeis University, 3-0, in the tournament semifinals.
