Men's Soccer Selected as Top Seed in ECAC Tournament
ECAC Division III New England Tournament Bracket
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- After finishing the regular-season with a 12-5-0 record, Bridgewater State University was selected as the number one seed in the 2010 ECAC New England Men's Soccer Championship. The tournament is an eight-team field with quarterfinal, semifinal and championship rounds.
In the first round contests on Wednesday, November 10, Bridgewater State (12-5-0) will host Lesley University (15-2-1) at 4:00 p.m. while the second seed Western New England College (13-6-2) will face No. 7 Lyndon State College (10-3-3) at 1:00 p.m. at WNEC. No. 3 Salve Regina University (13-5-2) plays Framingham State University (11-9-1) at 1:00 p.m. at Salve Regina and Brandeis University (9-7-1) will take on Albertus Magnus College (15-5-1) at 6:00 p.m. in the No. 4/No. 5 match-up at Brandeis.
The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 13. All semifinal and championship games will be held at a site to be determined. The winner of Bridgewater State/Lesley will face the winner of Brandeis/Albertus Magnus at 11:00 a.m. in one semifinal, and the winner of WNEC/Lyndon State will play the winner of Salve Regina/Framingham State at 1:30 p.m. in the other semifinal. The semifinal winners will meet Sunday, November 14 at 12:00 p.m. for the championship.
Under the guidance of ninth-year head coach Brendan Adams (86-64-15, .567), the Bridgewater State men's soccer team is making its first appearance in an ECAC tournament since 1998 and sixth overall. Since taking over the head coaching reins in 2002, Adams has directed his teams to three postseason appearances including NCAA tournament bids in 2004 and 2007.
Ticket prices for Wednesday's ECAC tournament game will be $5 for general admission and $3 for Bridgewater State students, faculty and staff with ID. Admission for children 12 and under is free.
