Bears Fall In 3-2 Shootout Loss

Bears Fall In 3-2 Shootout Loss

On Sunday the Bears headed to Foxboro, MA to take on the highly ranked Boston College Eagles (ACHA). Things looked grim for BSC after Greg Santos took a five minute major for a leg check; but Senior Mike Logan was able to intercept a pass while short handed and break down the ice for a goal.

Heading into the locker room after the second period things were still tied up at one goal a piece.

Just before the mid way point of the third the Eagles again took the lead off a shot that was initial saved by Zach Dupere. After the initial shot the Eagles capitalized on the rebound and buried it. With just under six minutes left in the game the Bears tied it up at two with a goal by freshman Jonathan Rodrigues. Although BC pestered the Bridgewater net with shots with just less than one minute in regulation, the Bears were able to survive and force OT thanks to a few shots that hit the post.

After battling for five minutes of 4 on 4 sudden death overtime, the two teams were still dead even. Normally the game would have ended in a draw, but thanks to a new ACHA ruling, games now continue to a three round shootout. After three rounds both teams had yet to score, but on BC's fourth chance they were able to bury the puck. The Bears were unable to answer on their last attempt, but were able to salvage a point out of the hard fought tilt.
