Inacio Sets School Indoor Mark to Lead Women's Track & Field on Saturday

BOSTON, Mass. -- Three members of the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team posted victories at meets on Saturday.

Sophomore Grace Inacio (Taunton, Mass.) turned in a school-record performance to win the 200-meter race at the Mini Meet, held at Boston University.

Senior Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.) also finished first at BU, winning the 400-meter race.

At the Art Kadish Elm City Challenge, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Conn., BSU graduate student Serenity Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was the winner in the high jump.

Inacio finished in a time of 24.94 seconds, which broke the BSU record of 25.26 set by Abrantes on Jan. 18, 2025 at the Tufts Branwen Smith-King Invitational.

She was just over two seconds ahead of second-place finisher Myasiah Ortiz of Franklin Pierce.

Inacio currently ranks sixth in all of Division III in the 200.

Abrantes won her race in 56.19, the lone runner to finish under a minute. She is currently ranked second in all of Division III in the 400.

Sands finished first in her event with a jump of five feet, three inches (1.60m).

She was two inches ahead of Hartford's Maeve McGinnis.

BSU sophomore Chloe Davies (Foxborough, Mass.) was fourth in the high jump (4'11"/1.50m).

At the BU meet, Bears sophomore Olivia Downin (Hudson, Mass.) took fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:35.08.

Sophomore Emerson Ricciardi (East Freetown, Mass.) finished ninth in the 200 with a PR of 28.90 seconds.

Next on the BSU schedule is the Bryant Indoor Throws Competition in Rhode Island on Jan. 7 and the Branwen Smith-King Invitational at Tufts on Jan. 17.
