Four Members of Women's Track & Field Team Compete at MIT Final Qualifier

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Four members of the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team competed on Thursday at the MIT Final Qualifier.

Graduate student Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.), senior Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.), freshman Grace Inacio (Taunton, Mass.) and graduate student Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) broke thier own school record in the 4x100-meter relay as they posted a time of 46.58 seconds to place second at the meet.

The foursome eclipsed their previous school mark of 46.97 seconds set last week at the NEICAAA Championships. The 4x100 relay squad is presently ranked 16th in all of Division III.

McDonough also placed fourth in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 14.16 seconds. She is presently tied for 16th in all of Division III in the 100 hurdles.

Abrantes placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.36 seconds as she was just 1/100 of a second off her school record time of 55.35 seconds set two weeks ago at the Division III New England Championships.

Inacio finished seventh in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 12.22 seconds, while Escalera checked in at ninth in the 100 prelims with a time of 12.50 seconds.
