ATLANTA, Ga. -- Four members of the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team competed on Friday at the Emory Thrills in the Hills in Atlanta, Georgia.
Senior Serenity Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.) placed third in the high jump with a leap of five feet, three inches (1.60m), while junior Naomi Cass (Westport, Mass.) placed seventh in the 5,000-meter run (invitational) with a time of 17:42.76.
Freshman Grace Inacio (Taunton, Mass.) finished 11th in the 200-meter dash in her first collegiate outdoor meet with a time of 25.45 seconds. Graduate student Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) was 23rd in the 200 with a time of 26.04 seconds.
Sands, Cass, Inacio and Escalera qualified for the Division III New England Championships in their respective events.
Inacio (100), Escalera (100) and senior Kiara Abrantes (400) will compete on Saturday during day two of the Emory Thrills in the Hills, while the majority of the BSU women's track & field team will open the outdoor season at the Tufts University Snowflake Classic.
