Molly Rouillard Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Molly Rouillard has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Rouillard capped off her stellar career by garnering All-American honors in the 1,500-meter run at the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held last week at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.  The Dartmouth, Massachusetts native posted a school record-setting time of 4:27.18 in the finals of the 1,500 to finish in seventh place.

Rouillard also placed 15th in the 5,000-meter run at the national championship meet with a time of 17:19.15.  She also qualified in the 10,000-meter run but chose not to compete in the event.

Earlier this season, Rouillard won the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) title in the 5,000 (16:55.72) and finished runner-up at the New England DIII Championships in the 10,000 (35:49.99) as she set school records in both events.  She also captured both the MASCAC and New England Alliance individual championships in the 1,500 with a meet-record time of 4:40.07.

For her outstanding performance during the 2013 season, Rouillard was selected by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the Division III New England Region Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Rouillard advanced to the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championships back in the fall and placed 50th at the meet.  She also competed in the one-mile run at the NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships in March and earned All-American honors with a seventh-place finish.

Last season, Rouillard qualified in the 10,000 at the NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships and finished 12th.

All told, Rouillard garnered ten MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week accolades (six outdoor, four indoor) over the course of her three-year career as well as an impressive 16 MASCAC Cross Country Runner of the Week selections.

Along with her three individual outdoor marks, Rouillard also holds school indoor records in the 400 (58.20), mile (4:53.72), 3,000 (10:19.00) and 5,000 (17:22.23), and has been a part of five relay records, two outdoor (4x400, 4x800) and three indoor (4x400, 4x800, DMR).
