COLCHESTER, Vt. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team went 1-1 at a tri-meet on Sunday.
The Bears defeated Maine Maritime Academy, 155-72, and lost to host Saint Michael's College, 159-78.
Senior Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) was a double winner in diving to lead BSU at the Ross Sports Center.
Simard was first in 3-meter diving with a score of 281.45 and also won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 268.95.
She was also part of the 200-yard medley relay team that was third in 2:02.39. Also on the team were senior Julie Remson (Norwalk, Conn.), freshman Sienna DeLucia (Wallingford, Conn.) and senior Ava Fenton (Monument Beach, Mass.).
Remson was third in a pair of individual events for BSU.
She finished the 1,000-yard freestyle in 12:31.12 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.54.
DeLucia placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.99 and was second in the 1-meter diving event behind Simard with a score of 234.90.
Also finishing second was sophomore Evangelina Chaves (Raynham, Mass.) in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.37.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team was second in 1:51.74. The group included freshman Morgan Maher (Dighton, Mass.), freshman Niamh Fallon (Ayer, Mass.), senior Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Chaves.
In 3-meter diving, sophomore Gianna Varady (Highland Park, N.J.) was second behind Simard with 214.65 points followed by BSU junior Ava Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) with 181.15 points and junior Jillian Hallman (Raynham, Mass.).
Varady was also third in 1-meter diving with 203.80 points.
Fenton took third place in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:16.66. Bradford was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 12:31.12.
BSU finishes the November portion of the schedule Friday at 5 p.m. at the Eastern Connecticut State Relays.
