BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team went 1-1 at a tri-meet hosted by Roger Williams University Saturday.
The Bears won the opener over Plymouth State University, 58-0, then lost to Roger Williams, 26-14.
In the win over the Panthers, BSU received wins from senior Sei Dolomengi (Brooklyn Park, Minn._ at 125 pounds, freshman Ethan Buonanducci (Enfield, Conn.) at 133, senior Malcolm Chrispin (Hyde Park, Mass.) at 141, junior Cqari Bacote (Springfield, Mass.) at 149, freshman Avery Carl (Bridport, Vt.) at 157, sophomore James Calabrese (Foxborough, Mass.) at 165, freshman Kamel Dib (LIncoln, R.I.) at 174, junior Kaleb Rhoton (North Andover, Mass.) at 184, junior Christian Curley (Bridgewater, Mass.) at 197 and junior Michael Mastroianni (Milford, Mass.) at 385.
Against Roger Williams, the winners for the Bears included Dolomengi, Buonanducci, Chrispin and Curley.
Buonanducci won by fall at 2:03 over Plymouth State freshman Jacob Oliveira (Warwick, R.I.) while Chrispin defeated Panthers' sophomore John Allmers (Rivervale, N.J.) by technical fall at 3:07.
Bacote scored a win by fall at 2:25 over freshman Gabriel Berger (Shoreline, Wash.) and Dib won by technical fall at 2:52 over sophomore Josiah Funches (Bow, N.H.).
Rhoton was a winner by fall at 6:09 over sophomore Cooper Carlson (Merrimack, N.H.) and Mastroianni won by fall at 26 seconds over junior Jonathan Ruiz (Central Falls, R.I.).
Recording forfeit wins in the match with Plymouth State were Dolomengi, Carl, Calabrese and Curley.
In the loss to Roger Williams, the Bears won the first three bouts to open up an early 10-0 lead. The Hawks, however, captured six of the last seven matches to rally for the 26-14 win.
Dolomengi won by a 6-4 decision over freshman Kenna Gioffre (Newtown, Conn.) while Buoananducci scored a 13-3 major decision over freshman Caden Brueseo (Brookline, N.H.).
Chrispin won a 4-0 decision over junior Shaun McLaughlin (Nartick, Mass.) while Curley was a 14-2 major decision winner over sophomore Eric Power (Roslindale, Mass.).
Dib lost by a 2-0 decision to Roger Williams' junior Gavin McKenna (Kingston, Mass.) while Carl lost on a technical fall to junior Jack Forte (Westbury, N.Y.) at 2:50.
Calabrese was defeated on an 11-1 major decision by freshman Matt Gish (Cromwell, Conn.) and Bacote lost a 4-2 decision to junior Tyrell Newmann (Cranston, R.I.).
Rhoton lost by technical fall at 2:09 to junior Joshua Nieroda (West Suffield, Conn.) while Mastroianni lost by fall at 4:50 to sophomore Jayden Toppan (Gloucester, Mass.).
BSU opens the February portion of the schedule in New York City on Saturday by going against New York University and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
