BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman center Emilie von der Linden has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

von der Linden averaged 7.5 points, five rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots in two games for the Bears last week. The Sanbornville, New Hampshire product scored 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting to go along with seven rebounds (one offensive), a steal and a career-best four blocked shots in a 61-46 setback to Brandeis University. She also tallied four points, seven rebounds (three offensive) and a block in a 72-64 loss to Eastern Connecticut State University.

Through seven games this season, all starts, von der Linden is averaging 7.3 points, seven rebounds (2.3 offensive) and two blocks while shooting 39.6% (21-53) from the floor and 60% (9-15) at the free throw line.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 1-6 on the season. The Bears head to Las Vegas, Nevada later this month for the D3hoops.com Classic. Bridgewater takes on Whittier College on Sunday, December 28th (5:00 PM EST) and University of Redlands on Tuesday, December 30th (3:00 PM EST).
