Savannah Azoff Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman guard Savannah Azoff has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman guard Savannah Azoff has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
Azoff averaged 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals in three games for the Bears last week while shooting 34.3% (12-35) from the floor, 42.1% (8-19) from behind the arc and 100% (2-2) at the free throw line.
A native of Sandwich, Massachusetts, Azoff scored a career-high 17 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists, a steal and two blocked shots in a 74-64 setback to #3 ranked Smith. She also notched eight points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal in a 72-70 setback to Whittier, and nine points, three rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 71-65 loss to Redlands at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas.
Through ten games this season, Azoff is averaging 6.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 35% (14-40) from three-point range. She is also a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
Azoff is the Bears' second MASCAC Rookie of the Week this season as she joins classmate Emilie von der Linden who earned the honor back on Decemver 15th.
The BSU women's basketball team is currently 1-9 on the season. The Bears open MASCAC play on Wednesday evening as they head to Fitchburg State University to take on the Falcons at five o'clock.
