Molly Thibaudeau Named MASCAC Softball Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman designated player Molly Thibaudeau has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman designated player Molly Thibaudeau has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week.
A native of Lincoln, Rhode Island, Thibaudeau batted .429 (3-for-7) with a double, two run scored and an RBI in the Bears’ MASCAC Championship Series victory over Framingham State. She also posted a .429 on base percentage and a .571 slugging percentage during the best-of-three series.
Thibaudeau went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the Bears' 3-2 game two win over the Rams, and 2-for-4 with two runs scored in BSU's 10-5 victory in the decisive game three.
In 15 games this season, Thibaudeau is batting .227 (5-22) with a double, a walk, two stolen bases, eight runs scored and three RBI. She has also made three pitching appearances and is 2-0 with two complete games, a shutout, four strikeouts and a 3.97 earned run average over 12 1/3 innings of work.
The MASCAC weekly honors marks the first of Thibaudeau’s career.
The BSU softball team will begin NCAA Division III Tournament play on Friday, May 21st as the Bears (17-9-1) will compete at a six-team regional hosted by defending Division III champion Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. The Bears are the number five seed in the regional and will take on second-seeded Emory & Henry College.
