Kelley Reichert Named MASCAC Softball Player of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior pitcher Kelley Reichert has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior pitcher Kelley Reichert has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.
Reichert batted .615 (8-for-13) with three doubles, a triple, seven runs scored, and six RBI to go along with a 1.000 slugging percentage in a 3-1 week for the Bears. The Milford, Massachusetts product went 3-for-6 with a pair of doubles, a triple, two runs and an RBI in a MASCAC split with Fitchburg State, and 5-for-7 with a double, five runs and five RBI in a non-conference sweep of the Falcons.
Reichert also made two appearances in the circle, as she was 1-1 with two complete games and a 1.27 earned run average with six strikeouts over 11 innings of work.
In 21 games this season, Reichert is batting .371 (23-62) with eight doubles, three triples, 14 runs and 13 RBI. She is currently tied for second in the MASCAC in triples and ranks third in doubles, sixth in slugging percentage (.597) and ninth in batting average.
In 19 appearances (13 starts) in the circle, Reichert is 12-6 with nine complete games and a pair of shutouts. She has fanned 81 batters in 91 1/3 innings of work and sports a 2.45 ERA. Reichert currently ranks second in the MASCAC in innings pitched and is tied for second in wins, appearances and games started. She is also third in the conference in strikeouts, ERA and shutouts, and fourth in complete games.
In 50 games (39 starts) over three seasons with the Bears, Reichert is 23-17 with 28 complete games, five shutouts and one save. She has also struck out 157 batters over 261 innings and has a career ERA of 2.71. At the plate, Reichert is a career .347 hitter (26-75) with nine doubles, three triples, 17 runs and 15 RBI.
The MASCAC Player of the Week honor marks the first of Reichert’s career. She has been named conference pitcher of the week four times including twice this season.
The BSU softball team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 15-8-1 and finished second in the MASCAC standings with a 6-3-1 conference mark. The Bears will take on Framingham State University in a best-of-three MASCAC Championship Series later this week at Framingham's Maple Street Field. Game one of the series will take place on Friday at 2:00 PM with game two getting underway 30 minutes after the completion of the opener. The "if necessary" game three is slated for Saturday at noon.
