Kelley Reichert Named MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University junior righthander Kelley Reichert has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University junior righthander Kelley Reichert has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Reichert went 2-1 in the circle with two complete games in the Bears’ MASCAC Championship Series victory over Framingham State. The Milford, Massachusetts product fanned 16 batters and posted a 2.14 earned run average in 19 2/3 innings of work in the best-of-three series as she earned Most Valuable Player honors.
Reichert allowed one unearned run on five hits over 6 2/3 innings of relief with a walk and nine strikeouts in the Bears' 3-2 game two win. She did not allow an earned run and scattered five hits in a complete game effort with one strikeout as the Bears' captured the series title with a 10-5 victory in the decisive game three.
In 22 appearances (15 starts) in the circle this season, Reichert is 14-7 with 11 complete games and a two shutouts. She has fanned 97 batters in 111 innings of work and sports a 2.40 earned run average.
Reichert currently leads the MASCAC in wins and strikeouts and is tied for the league lead in complete games. She also ranks second in the conference in games started and innings pitched, ranks third in ERA and is tied for second in both appearances and shutouts.
In 53 games (41 starts) over three seasons with the Bears, Reichert is 25-18 with 30 complete games, five shutouts and one save. She has also struck out 173 batters over 280 2/3 innings and has a career ERA of 2.67.
The MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honor marks the fifth of Reichert’s career and third this season.
The BSU softball team will begin NCAA Division III Tournament play on Friday, May 21st as the Bears (17-9-1) will compete at a six-team regional hosted by defending Division III champion Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. The Bears are the number five seed in the regional and will take on second-seeded Emory & Henry College.
