Kevin McBirney Named MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University graduate student Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University graduate student Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
McBirney captured top honors in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.82 this past weekend at the River Hawk Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell at The Track at New Balance. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product was just 3/100 of a second off his school indoor record time of 1:51.79 set two weekends ago at the John Thomas Terrier Classic. The meet featured schools from all three Divisions (predominantly Division I) as well as track clubs.
McBirney currently ranks 11th in all of Division III in the 800 and third in the East Region.
The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the 21st of McBirney's career including 13 indoor distinctions. He has also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades nine times as a cross country student-athlete.
In upcoming action, the BSU men's indoor track & field team will compete on Sunday evening (5:00 PM) at the MASCAC Indoor Championships held at Wheaton College.
