WATERVILLE, Mass. -- Five Bears earned All-New England honors as the Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track and field team placed 21st (11 pts.) at the New England Division III Championships held at Colby College.

Michael McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) paced the Bears with a fourth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 52 feet, 4.25 inches (15.95m), while Matt Horan (Billerica, Mass.) placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.36 seconds.

Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.) finished ed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.03, while Andy Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) crossed the line eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:53.21. Christian Lavoie (Marion, Mass.) rounded out he Bears' all-new england performers as he placed eighth in the discus with a distance of 148 feet, 0.75 inches (45.13m).

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU track and field teams will be competing at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by Stonehill College.
