BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team dropped its second straight match Tuesday night.
The Bears were defeated by Roger Williams University, 5-2, and are now 2-4 after the non-conference setback.
The Hawks, winners of six straight matches, improved to 12-4.
Picking up victories for the Bears were freshman Will Horton (Lakeville, Mass.) at No. 1 singles and junior Anthony Lucas (Weymouth, Mass.) at No. 5 singles.
Horton rallied from a set down to secure a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 win over freshman Om Seth (Lincoln, R.I.) while Lucas defeated junior Cooper Brown (Plano, Texas), 6-3, 6-2.
Winning were Roger Williams in singles were junior Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) at No. 2 over senior Adam Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.), 6-2, 6-1, and senior Steven Mathew (Bayport, N.Y.) at No. 3 over junior Tom Ayson (Plymouth, Mass.), 7-5, 6-4.
At No. 4, sophomore Nathan Belmore (Lakeville, Mass.) was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over sophomore Khiem Nguyen (Burlington, Vt.) while senior Jackson Slattery (Watertown, Conn.) took No. 6 singles over senior Ryan Hebert (Taunton, Mass.), 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, sophomore Bronson DeSisto (Las Vegas, Nev.) and senior Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) won at No. 1 for the Hawks over Beatrice and Nguyen, 6-0, while Horton and Hebert lost at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, to senior Camden Poitras (Londonderry, N.H.) and Hurlbut.
Sophomore Edward White (Higganum, Conn.) and junior James Birbara (West Hartford, Conn.) took No. 3 doubles over Ayson and Lucas, 7-5.
BSU has another non-conference match on Thursday, hosting Curry College at 3 p.m.
Roger Williams plays again on April 8 against Western New England at 4 p.m.
