Denoes, Ziegler Named to LEC Spring All-Academic Team
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Junior Darius Denoes (Ithaca, N.Y.) and sophomore Kendan Ziegler (Hadley, N.Y.) have been named to the Spring 2020 Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic Team as announced by LEC Assistant Commissioner, Darryl Konicki.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- A pair of Bridgewater State University men's tennis student-athletes have been named to the Spring 2020 Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic Team as announced by LEC Assistant Commissioner, Darryl Konicki.
To be named to he LEC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.
The two student-athletes from the BSU men's tennis team who achieved the honor are junior Darius Denoes (Ithaca, N.Y.) and sophomore Kendan Ziegler (Hadley, N.Y.). A physics major, Denoes is currently sporting a 3.45 grade point average, while Zeigler is majoring in aviation science and checks in with a 3.53 GPA.
Ziegler went 11-1 in singles play and 5-8 in doubles competition during his rookie campaign of 2019. Denoes was set to make his collegiate debut for the Bears in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), three BSU teams call the Little East home. Field hockey and women's tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, and men's tennis in the spring.
